The majority of the teasers Marvel has released for Deadpool & Wolverine have been quite lighthearted, but the most recent trailer for the film has a potential edge.

Deadpool & Wolverine’s latest teaser focuses more on a Wolverine variant played by Hugh Jackman, who for some reason failed his universe’s X-Men squad before everything was destroyed, than it does on Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds). How Wolverine and Deadpool find up battling in the wreckage of the 20th Century Fox lot and whatever universe the character of Wolverine originates from in the film are still completely unknown.

However, the teaser suggests that everything has to do with Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin), a strong mutant who has a tense relationship with Charles Xavier and a fondness for utilizing her abilities to force others to commit heinous acts. The fact that Deadpool and Wolverine will be more than just dick jokes and F-bombs while their heroes race across the multiverse to defeat a lady whose thoughts can kill is actually kind of lovely. It’s even more pleasing to know that Logan will be sporting a ludicrous costume and brandishing his weaponry when Deadpool & Wolverine opens in theaters on July 26.
